93 Points! Slightly more prominent wood frames aromas of ripe apple, fennel, wet stone and a plethora of citrus elements. The rich, concentrated and impressively scaled big-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the firm acid spine shaping the bitter lemon zest and beautifully long if youthfully austere finish. 91 Points! Subtle but not invisible wood is present on the cooler aromas of Granny Smith apple, essence of pear and a plentitude of citrus elements. The rich, generous and full-bodied flavors possess good power while delivering fine length on the palate soaking, clean and dry finale where a touch of rusticity slowly emerges. 97 Points! A giant amongst the 2021 Grand Cru red Burgundies, but still a sleeping giant. In spite of the stunning concentration on the rather full-bodied palate for the vintage, the stony minerality and bright acidity gives this great drive at the very long finish. From the lieu-dits of Clos du Cromin, Le Corbin and Les Vireuils. Less than a hectare total of 30+ year-old vines. 11 months barrel aging in French oak followed by harmonizing in larger vats for 4-5 months prior to bottling. As classic as it gets!

From the importer: From three vineyards at the foothills of Chaintré: Les Chambardes, Les Pelouses, Les Jonchayes. The vines were planted between 1968 and 1985. Clay-limestone soils. Hand harvested. Fermented in thermoregulated tanks. The wine continues to age in these tanks for ten months before bottling. No fining.

From Winehog: Two good friends, Eric Pignal and Loïc Lamy, have started a small wine project in a well-known cellar in Meloisey – the old cellar of the Rougeot negociant business.

Eric Pignal is the assistant winemaker of Château de Pommard, having worked before at domaines Dujac and Roulot. Loïc Lamy is currently export manager at Domaine de Montille.

Terroir: From the lieu-dit "Les Cornillaux" in the village of Leynes, on hard limestone and grey Liassic marls. Southwestern exposure, gentle slope.

Viticulture: Organic (not certified)

Vinification: Long, gentle pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation in older barrels with no added SO2, aged 11 months in barrel and 5 months in stainless steel tank, minimal total SO2, no fining, no filtration.

The Saisons Saint-Véran 2020 is a white Burgundy wine known for its bright, fresh, and balanced character. It offers a pale yellow color and a nose that combines delicate fruit aromas like peach and pear with floral notes of acacia and honeysuckle. Some vintages may also exhibit hints of exotic fruits and citrus. On the palate, it's typically dry, well-rounded, and mineral, with a lively acidity that contributes to a harmonious and refreshing experience. The wine often displays notes of fresh almond, hazelnut, and sometimes even a touch of butter or honey. 

90 Points! From a parcel situated on Fixin's alluvial fan, the 2019 Fixin Champs de Vosgers bursts with aromas of rose petals, spices, orange rind and peonies.
