This exceptionally rare release from The Perfect Fifth was distilled in 1973 at the now-closed North of Scotland distillery, which operated in the Lowlands until 1980. After five decades of patient maturation, the whisky showcases the remarkable longevity and elegance that well-made single grain can achieve. Bottled in extremely limited quantities, it represents both a piece of lost distilling history and a showcase of time as an ingredient.

Tasting Note:
The nose is delicate and composed, offering soft florals, ripe tropical fruit, and gentle honeyed sweetness. On the palate it is silky and layered, with notes of vanilla cream, orchard fruit, light citrus, and polished oak. The finish is long and graceful, lingering with subtle spice, mellow wood, and a quiet sweetness that reflects its extraordinary age.

This whiskey is crafted by twin sisters Ali and Sam Blatteis of Home Base Spirits. It is distilled at Corbin Cash Distillery in Atwater, California, and aged in ex-Home Base Bourbon barrels at their facility in Berkeley. Kings County Distillery's Straight Bourbon is crafted using a high-malt recipe, double pot distilled, and aged in new charred oak barrels. This approach results in a bourbon with rich flavors and a robust character, frequently cited among the best craft bourbons.​

From Found North: Batch 009 is our oldest Batch to date. While the cornerstone of this blend is a 19 year old rye aged in Ruby Port barrels, the crux of this whisky is the triplet of 23 year old corn
components that form the foundation of the blend, two of which were aged in New American
Oak and one in Bourbon barrels. We used two additional 19 year old whiskies, one corn and
one rye, as well as a 22 year old corn and a 26 year old corn component to round out the
rest of this 8-whisky tapestry.

Batch 009 lands with a burst of berry fruit and a sweet baking spice counterpart. The
landing dissolves into cinnamon and brown sugar while the fruit notes melt like muscadine
grapes rolling thick viscous vanillin oils across the tongue. The dense raw maple notes seep
into the side palate, dominating the entire midsection like treacle turned into languid
molten lava moving implacably toward the finish. As the rich, viscous molasses note reaches
the last section it transitions into a triad of wood spice, gentle mint tea and oak tannin,
echoing endlessly, reverberating honey, citrus and nutmeg.
