92 Points! A note of green apple mixes with mint leaf and wet stone hints. It impresses further with its mix of tension and elegance. Brisk acidity and tart orchard fruits contrast its creamy wave of fine bubbles. A saline tinge lingers on along with a Granny Smith resonance that keeps the senses salivating as this finishes with excellent length and freshness. This is a fantatsic value. - Eric Guido, Vinous

Void of all herbicides and pesticides, and grown on limestone and clay mixed with river alluvium, all the grapes are harvested by hand (a rarity with Prosecco DOC wine) and a triage of the free run juice and only the first half of the press juice is reserved for the final bottling. Primary fermentation takes place naturally while the second fermentation is made with cultured yeast to ensure the right final balance. Aged in steel, both wines are racy and straight, with a dosage of 12g/L for the Extra Dry Prosecco and 5g/L for the Brut.

The Sorgente project was born out of the mutual desire for importer The Source and a special undisclosed estate (sorry!) to work together with only their Prosecco wines.

Sorgente Prosecco comes from a six hectare parcel of Glera vines located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and a solid golf shot away from the Veneto border to the west, the vineyards sit only a few hundred meters from the natural spring (called sorgente in Italian) at the nascita of the Livenza River.

Sorrento Peninsula is a popular destination for an international tourism. In very limited areas and in extreme viticulture conditions, a lightly fruity sparkling red wine of excellent quality and great tradition is produced; Gragnano.

It is produced by unifying different types of grapes such as Olivella, Sciascinoso, Per’e Palummo (Piedirosso), Aglianico and other varieties grown in the municipalities of the Sorrento Peninsula. Gragnano takes its name from one of the later.

91 Points! An Italian classic and a terrific value, the Ferrari NV Trento Brut is all Chardonnay that opens to crystalline luminosity and brilliance. The bouquet is straightforward and confident, delivering a clear and precise message of good cheer and easy-drinking appeal. There are notes of citrus, white peach, breakfast pastry and drying notes of crushed mineral. This is the quintessential Italian aperitivo wine. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

From the importer: 'Mai sentito’ means ‘unheard of,’ and this sparkling Verdicchio, bottled before the second fermentation is finished, is certainly the first of its type I’ve had. It’s not some random hipster experiment, though, it’s an intentional, thoughtful, delicious bottle of wine. The Verdicchio variety supplies the green apple and herbal notes you’d expect, along with lovely fresh acidity; the maceration of the yeast in the wine as the fermentation finishes adds texture and background notes. Excellent aperitif, would pair perfectly with all manner of antipasti. Nice job, Riccardo.

91+ Points! Luminous straw-green. Honey, white flowers, crushed rocks and lemon oil all come alive in this nicely chiseled, creamy yet vibrant Prosecco. Showcases gorgeous balance and plenty of early appeal, but also offers plenty of richness and depth. This serious, luscious Prosecco is my early candidate for Brut Prosecco of the year. The name of the wine derives from a very old forest located near the estate. Made from roughly 96% Glera and 4% Chardonnay.
