This is the BEST Schiava I've ever had. Which is saying a ton nowadays with the renaissance Schiava is enjoying with climate change..

Martin Ramoser and his family have three hectares of Schiava and Lagrein that have been organically and biodynamically farmed since 2018, upon Martin’s return from wine school. The reds come from the historical Santa Magdalena hill, and the old-vine Sauvignon Blanc parcel (purchased in 2020) is grown farther south, facing east on a steep slope, protected from the afternoon sun. The rock type for the red wines is dominated by igneous porphyry, but it also contains alluvium deposited from the Eisack River, while the Sauvignon Blanc is grown on limestone and sedimentary soils. Everything is harvested by hand and varying levels of stems are included in the natural fermentations of reds. The Sauvignon is electric and textured and the Lagrein is a tamed-but-still-beefy, inky, minerally red, and the highlights of his compelling range are fine and focused Schiavas aged in large, old botti.

97% Schiava/3% Lagrein harvested from 50-70-year-old vines in the volcanic porphyry bedrock and alluvial and bedrock-derived topsoil facing south at 320-400m.

30% whole cluster, 2-week natural fermentation with frequent pumpovers to work against Schiava’s naturally high propensity for reduction. Aged 10 months in ancient 12hl botte. No filtration or fining.

93 Points! A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, Flora Springs's 2021 Trilogy offers up an intriguing bouquet of ripe cherries, fine sandalwood and a hint of mint too. Monthelie "Vieilles Vignes" is drawn from three parcels amounting to 1 hectare of vines planted in 1976. Among Garaudet's holdings is a plot in Les Toisières. This lieu-dit abuts Meursault Premier Cru Les Caillerets. The soils are of clay-limestone loam composition over a limestone substrate. 12 months aging in 30% new oak.

93+ Points! Aged in demi-muids, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet is drawn exclusively from la Crau, a blend of 70% Grenache and 15% each Mourvèdre and Syrah. The nose is toasty and cedary but balanced by scents of red raspberries and strawberries, while the mouth is full-bodied and supple, finishing smooth, sexy and long. 92 Points! In the Fonterenza style, the 2020 Rosso di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a wild bouquet as sour cherry and orange mingle with sweet herbs and exotic spices. This is full of energy yet soft and pliant. Vibrant acidity carries licorice-tinged red fruits. It tapers off long and structured, leaving the mouth watering and aching under its youthful structure. 98 Points! The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley Estate has a Mouton-like vibe in its ripe, sexy red and black currants as well as notes of chocolate, tobacco leaf, truffle, and damp earth. Much more broad, round, and expansive compared to the Red Mountain release, it has supple, velvety tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. It's not far off the heavenly 2018 and will shine for 30 years as well. Readers will love being able to compare these two great vintages over the coming decades. - Jeb Dunnuck

Lots of Bordeaux-like currants, cedar pencil, chocolate, and leather nuances emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Franc Tinaquaic Vineyard, an incredibly well-balanced, medium to full-bodied red that has fine tannins and a great finish. This mineral, savory Chardonnay has so much to offer, but it also needs time to come together. 94 Points! Fermented and aged in a combination of tank and puncheon, the 2024 Chenin Blanc Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard Old Vines is concentrated, crystal-clear and most importantly, absolutely delicious. Lemon oil, ripe pear, chalk and white pepper blossom in the glass with real lift. Energetic and lively, the 2024 confidently marches across the palate. Fermented in equal parts stainless steel and neutral puncheons, the 2024 Chenin Blanc Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard is a beautiful representation of the variety sourced from vines planted in 1966. Produced from 35+ year old vines, this wine is normally vinified dry.

From a single vineyard parcel on one of the highest points in the appellation. The soils here are comprised of silex (flint) and a small amount of clay over limestone bedrock. Always vinified dry, this is one of the purest expressions of Montlouis that one can find. Plenty of minerals, pear and some quince in the nose, the acidity is crisp and intense giving way to a full wine that opens up over the palate leaving more quince and river rock sensations.
