Amulet Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley AE 2024
93 Points! Based on 100% Sauvignon Blanc and aged nine months in 50% used French oak, 20% new French oak, and 30% concrete egg, the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc AE offers lots of citrus and grapefruit hints with plenty of background grassy, herbal nuances. Medium gold-hued, it's medium-bodied, with bright acidity and a classy finish. This impeccably made Sauvignon Blanc will keep for 3-4 years with ease. Drink 2025-2029. - Jeb Dunnuck
93 Points! The 2024 AE White Wine is the second wine, 100% Sauvignon Blanc made and matured nine months in a mix of vessels (50% used barrels, 20% new barrels and 30% concrete egg). Passion fruit, crushed stone and grapefruit notes on the nose lead into a medium- to full-bodied wine. It's plump, rounded and generous, but it still retains bright acids and a lingering, mouthwatering finish. It's a terrific value in Napa Sauvignon Blanc. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com
For years, Napa Valley struggled to figure out what to do with Sauvignon Blanc.
The region was focused on Cabernet, and the price gap between luxury Cabernets and affordable white wines made it difficult for wineries to justify serious investment in the category.
But over the last decade, something remarkable has happened.
A number of Napa producers have cracked the code, creating ultra-premium Sauvignon Blanc that rivals the great white wines of Bordeaux’s Pessac-Léognan.
Amulet is part of that movement.
The estate sits on the former Dancing Hares property on the east side of St. Helena in the foothills of Howell Mountain. After much of the vineyard was lost during the 2020 Glass Fire, the team replanted Sauvignon Blanc in 2021, creating a true “phoenix from the ashes” story.
This wine is the first Sauvignon Blanc from those estate vineyards.
Winemaker Shawn Johnson, a protégé of Philippe Melka, crafted the wine using 50% neutral French barrels, 20% new French oak, and 30% concrete egg fermentation to create both richness and precision.
The result is Napa Sauvignon Blanc at a very high level.
Fresh cut hay, melon, grapefruit, and candied citrus unfold alongside richer tropical fruit notes, framed by subtle oak and remarkable mid-palate depth.
Wine Advocate awarded the wine 93 points, praising its precision and energy.
The winery price is $85.
Today’s offer: $34.98.
For ultra-premium Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, that’s a deal worth jumping on.
