Amorotti Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2021
94 Points! The 2021 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is unique, with a beguiling blend of ground ginger, young peach and grapefruit. It opens with a lovely inner sweetness, silky and supple, with ripe yellow pit fruits underscored by saline minerals as candied citrus traces resonate throughout. This finishes remarkably fresh yet staining and long, echoing with nectarine and sour green apple. This is absolutely fantastic, showing a warm vintage character yet with incredible balance. It will be an exciting vintage to follow and at just 12.5% abv. - Eric Guido, Vinous Media
The Amorotti wines are very strong across the board. I’m not sure if there’s anything that this house can’t accomplish, save for the fact that they don’t make a Pecorino. The Amorotti winery is located in Loreto Aprutino, just down the street from Valentini, with a cellar that has nearly identical origins. They planted their vineyards in 2000 yet waited until 2016 to release the first vintages. To this day, the winery uses just one-third of its production for its own wine, choosing to sell off any fruit that doesn’t meet its exacting standards. While visiting with owner Gaetano Carboni and Oenologists Nicola di Ciano and Valeria Salvatorelli, it becomes apparent that they are infusing their passion into the wines. The Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo are easily on par with the top examples from the region...If I had to recommend a top three to five producers in the region to chase, Amorotti would be on that list without question. - Eric Guido, Vinous Media
